Question: Can I automatically calculate my eBay fees?
Over the last several years, eBay’s fee structures have undergone any number of changes. If you’re a low-volume seller who doesn’t naturally have to keep up, you have have been left scratching your head more than once at how the changes impact you.
Answer: If this sounds like you, it may be time to look into one of the online eBay fee calculators. Though these aren’t operated by eBay, there are a number of free, web-based fee calculators online that can help you to simulate auction fees for various types of listings and various outcomes. Two of the better online fee calculators include: Of course, these calculators aren’t official calculators provided by eBay and thus any results that they provide you should be checked for accuracy before relying on them for critical calculations. Their owners, however, seem to try to keep them up-to-date and they are much easier to use for day-to-day calculation than eBay’s infamous fees page, the closest thing eBay has traditionally had to a fees calculator.

Official Calculator for March 2010

With the upcoming changes recently announced to eBay’s fee structure, such calculators will be in for an overhaul again, but this time there is also a tool provided by eBay (at least for the moment) called the Fee Illustrator that can help you to calculate what your fees will be once the new fees regime goes into effect at the end of March, 2010.

Hopefully eBay will leave this tool in place or continue to make it available once the fees actually go into effect, given that it’s been created and already exists on the eBay.com website.
