Question: Can I automatically calculate my eBay fees?
Over the last several years, eBay’s fee structures have undergone any number of changes. If you’re a low-volume seller who doesn’t naturally have to keep up, you have have been left scratching your head more than once at how the changes impact you.
Answer: If this sounds like you, it may be time to look into one of the online eBay fee calculators. Though these aren’t operated by eBay, there are a number of free, web-based fee calculators online that can help you to simulate auction fees for various types of listings and various outcomes. Two of the better online fee calculators include:
- The New Life Auctions fee calculator, which is cleanly designed and simple to use but covers a variety of common and less common cases.
- Ryal Olbe’s fee calculator, which is much more complex, but handles a greater variety of circumstances, and is also available as a downloadable spreadsheet.
Official Calculator for March 2010
With the upcoming changes recently announced to eBay’s fee structure, such calculators will be in for an overhaul again, but this time there is also a tool provided by eBay (at least for the moment) called the Fee Illustrator that can help you to calculate what your fees will be once the new fees regime goes into effect at the end of March, 2010.Hopefully eBay will leave this tool in place or continue to make it available once the fees actually go into effect, given that it’s been created and already exists on the eBay.com website.
