More Weird Auction Fun

Friday July 14, 2006
It's time for a midsummer batch of weird auctions, of which there is always an ample supply on eBay.

Variations on a Theme

We begin with this individual who is selling a batch of photos to be taken at a book burning in order to make a teddy bear famous, all of which apparently has something to do with Einstein.

If book burnings for plush toy fame are too involved for your bidding tastes but you'd still like a way to link teddy bears and Einstein, consider bidding on sheets of Angolan stamps featuring world leaders and nobel prize winners, among them Teddy Roosevelt and Albert himself.

Art for Art's Sake?

A more constructive auction is this quasi-charity listing selling (in keeping with recent fads) pixels. You know—dots. The difference between this pixel sale and the others is these pixels cost only $0.01 each and the finished pixel canvas will then be sold on eBay, with the proceeds being given to charity.

If you're less in the mood for charity and more in the mood for products, consider placing a bid on an unusual Salvador Dali clock that is guaranteed to give you a headache every time you look at it.

It'll also be interesting to see whether this intentionally overpriced art print actually does make its creator rich. For $333,333.33, you'd better really like impish portraits of tuxedo-wearing men standing next to money trees.

Probably Not Art

Finally, if you'd rather be somewhere else right now, place a bid on a stuffable dummy of yourself that can sit in your cubicle while you go to the beach to enjoy the remaining summer heat. Be warned, though, that it may not fool your boss... unless your boss is also at the beach and a dummy has taken his place, too.

I hope you are using BigCrumbs when you bid on eBay :-P .
