New search experience got you down?

By Aron Hsiao, About.com

If you've changed computers, started shopping eBay Express, or done one of several other potentially triggering things lately, you might have suddenly discovered the eBay search you're familiar with to have been replaced by a new, more interactive eBay search system.

While this new system is without a doubt more user-friendly than the old system, allowing you to browse through search refinement options by clicking rather than by typing, it is also still full of kinks:

  • Advanced search options don't work at all

  • Neither do alternate views (Buy It Now only, Auctions only, etc.)

  • Or sort options at times (Newest first, Oldest first, etc.)

For this reason, many eBay users would prefer not to use the new search system, at least until the kinks are ironed out. Not to fear, you can disable it. At the bottom of every search page (scroll all the way down until the page won't scroll any more), you'll find a sentence that says:

You are currently testing eBay's new search experience. If you prefer, you can opt out of the test.

You will notice that the words "opt out" are highlighted as a link. If you click on them, eBay will return—for now—to the old search system you know and love.
