Keep eBay in the Loop
As an aside, it is important to remember that in cases in which the buyer has filed an eBay or PayPal dispute, it is not merely your responsibility but it is also to your advantage to keep eBay and/or PayPal notified on an ongoing basis of the offers you have made to your trading partner and/or the communication that you have sent to them.More than arguing your case in indignant letters typed into the dispute console or sent to eBay's customer service address, simple copies of all of the reasoned correspondence and offers that you make your buyer will help to ensure that any disputes that can be decided in your favor are decided in your favor. Remember, therefore, to log into the dispute console often when disputes are open and to update eBay on the current situation. Remember also, however, to do so by simply showing (copying and pasting your communication) that you are making reasoned attempts to negotiate a satisfactory solution for both your self and your buyer.
Don't Dwell on It
In the end, the most important thing that you can do after the resolution of a dispute—whether it is decided in your favor or not—is move on. After all, you have a business to run, and time spent dwelling on past bad experiences is time not spent turning your eBay business into a success. If you take it on the chin once or twice as a seller, just remember that taking it on the chin from time to time has been a cost of doing business since time immemorial and that those that are willing to take it on the chin now and then without losing their good business sense or their heads are generally those that build the largest, most loyal customer bases in the long-term.Finally, if you feel that it's appropriate, you can take the small step of blocking a particular buyer from ever bidding on your auctions again, but beyond this small step, your best bet for future returns is to move on and continue to sell quality goods at reasonable prices with excellent customer service to all of the other buyers out there on eBay that are waiting to find you.
