Positive feedback, left as part of the eBay feedback system, is left by one trading partner about another in order to report having had a positive buying or selling experience. The accumulation of positive feedback about a given eBay member indicates to the rest of the eBay community that the member in question is a safe and conscientious trading partner.
When a great deal of positive feedback is accumulated, eBay places a feedback star next to the member's eBay ID whenever it appears on a page, thereby helping potential trading partners to quickly evaluate the member's trading reputation.
It is not uncommon for eBay members to contact their trading partners once an auction has closed an an item has been shipped and received in order to request positive feedback.
In real sales terms, however, even large amounts of positive feedback can be offset by a small amount of negative feedback, so it's important that members not only pursue positive feedback, but that they also avoid deserving negatives.
