How do I contact eBay directly?

By Aron Hsiao, About.com

There really are customer service reps at eBay.

Question: How do I contact eBay directly?

Answer:

There are two ways to contact eBay with your questions, concerns, issues, or reports of rules violations. The simplest, and therefore also the easiest, is via one of eBay's several web forms for customer contact.

  • Registration and membership issues. For issues related to your registration and membership, use the registration and membership form.

  • Bidding and buying issues. For issues related to bidding and buying, use the bidding and buying form.

  • Selling and fees issues. For issues related to selling and seller fees, use the selling and fees form.

  • Listing violations issues. If you would like to report a violation in rules regarding item listings, use the listing violations form.

  • Account security issues. If you have received a suspicious email or notice suspicious activity on your eBay account, use the account security form.

  • Problems with other eBay members. If you are experiencing problems with other eBay members not specifically related to transactional disputes, use the problems with other eBay members form.

  • Site and technical issues. If you are experiencing technical problems with the eBay website or have received an error message, use the site issues form.

Though these online forms may seem impersonal, every time you fill one of them out an eBay customer service representative is sent an email message created from the information you submit. The representative will respond to you within several days (sometimes sooner) and from there you can begin an email exchange.

Form Letters and Direct Email

If what you first receive seems like a form letter, reply and begin your new message with "PLEASE DON'T SEND ME ANOTHER FORM LETTER." Real eBay representatives do read each message, but sometimes in their eagerness they send form letters when personal responses might be more helpful.

If you find the web forms to be unhelpful or inadequate, you can also email customer support directly, though you should note that it may take longer to receive a reply this way.

Live Help Via Chat

If you would rather talk to an eBay representative in real time, you can also use the eBay LiveHelp system. To do so, visit the eBay front page at http://www.ebay.com and click "Live Help" in the upper right-hand corner. You'll be shown a popup window that you can use to chat with an eBay customer support representative.
