About.com Guide to eBay

Aron Hsiao is a former eBay employee and a longtime eBay buyer and seller. A computing and Internet expert and six-time author, Aron became an eBay enthusiast early in eBay's history, buying and selling technology equipment as an eBay trader. He has since found eBay to be a great forum for buying or selling nearly anything at all.

Experience:

Beginning in early 2003, Aron served in eBay's Trust and Safety department, working to resolve buyer and seller conflicts and rules violations as a part of what was then called the SafeHarbor team. As an eBay insider, Aron gained valuable insight into eBay's rules and standards, the most successful techniques used by eBay members to buy and sell, and the primary types of risks and mistakes that eBay's members confront. Aron maintains a large feedback profile with a perfect feedback percentage—never a single negative—with from buyers and sellers all around the world.

Education:

Aron holds two B.A. degrees from the University of Utah, an M.A. degree from the University of Chicago, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree at The New School for Social Research in Manhattan.

From Aron Hsiao:

I joined eBay in 1998 after being told that I could save hundreds or thousands of dollars a year by shopping eBay for my business computing needs. Before long I was buying nearly anything else I needed on eBay as well, from books to clothes to alarm clocks to cameras. There seemed to be no limit to eBay's usefulness! Once I realized that I could actually make money on eBay by selling things I'd otherwise giving to thrift stores, I was hooked.

I liked eBay so much that I went to work on eBay's SafeHarbor team in 2003. There I learned how to make the most of eBay's website features and about the techniques that top eBay buyers and sellers employ every day to ensure success. Though I eventually left eBay to pursue a Ph.D., I remain an active eBay user, successfully buying and selling thousands of items every year. I'd love to help you do the same!
