Tips for Buying a Phone on eBay

Lots of people get fed up with the game at retail phone stores. Mobile phone life often seems weighed down by endless contracts, limited selection, high prices, and the ecological impact caused by the constant stream of new phone purchases with little used phone availability.

Enter eBay. The selection is almost endless, you can buy without a contract and take the phone to your existing carrier, you help to recycle a phone rather than create yet another one, and prices are often excellent—particularly for models one or two years old.

There are, however, caveats. You don't want to end up buying a phone that won't work with your carrier, a phone that's been stolen, or a phone that won't actually—you know—work for you. Here's what to know to ensure that you make your life better when you buy your next phone on eBay.
